Savory Thanksgiving Side Dishes

Savory Thanksgiving Side Dishes

To me, Thanksgiving is the ultimate food holiday and while people are always looking to spruce up their Thanksgiving recipes, know that you don’t have to completely reinvent the wheel. Taking familiar dishes and putting a fall spin on them can feel fresh to the menu without distracting too much from the traditional staples of a holiday meal. I love mashed potatoes, stuffing and turkey as much as the next girl, but I’m also a big believer in balancing your plate with healthy and fresh side dishes.

This year, instead of a side of Brussels sprouts, I’m whipping up a tangy, crisp, and light kale salad, drizzled with homemade dressing, and topped with delicious Fuji apples for an added crunch. This recipe is very versatile, so be confident in the kitchen! Feel free to swap out the walnuts for pecans, or to add your own twist to it. And if you’re wondering how to revive your Thanksgiving leftovers following your celebrations, I recommend topping the salad with sliced turkey!

I’ll also be preparing roasted delicata squash with maple syrup, an autumn classic and the epitome of fall flavor and color. This recipe is the perfect balance of savory and sweet, and it is sure to impress!

From my family to yours, happy thanksgiving. May your day be spent surrounded by your loved ones, and eating delicious food!
