Julia Nordgren, MD has the unique distinction of being a physician and a trained chef. Her years of treating patients for cholesterol disorders and childhood obesity motivated her to inspire people to make healthy eating part of their daily lives.
She has found that by creating small, specific changes in her patient’s daily eating habits, the results can be amazing. Her success as a physician depends on understanding that the foundation of good health rests in our everyday food choices.
Her passion for great food led her to enroll in the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. She graduated in 2013 with honors. Here, she crafted a cooking style based on the many cuisines and techniques from all around the world.
She is a practicing physician at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Palo Alto, California. She sees patients with high cholesterol, pre-diabetes. or metabolic syndrome. She is passionate about helping families prevent disease through healthy, delicious eating.
Dr. Nordgren received her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School, completing her pediatrics residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was elected Chief Resident. She is an active member of the National Lipid Association’s Pediatric Practice Management Committee, which strives to prevent heart disease through early lifestyle interventions.
Now a Californian, Julia currently lives on the Peninsula but travels back to Napa whenever possible. She tests many of her recipes on her husband and two boys, who luckily have adventurous appetites and honest opinions.
